I’ve always had a fascination with comic art so it was to my delight that I found out about the London Super Comic Convention.
Honestly though, my heart belongs to Aspen Comics. Way back in 1999 when I moved to England, I was living with a friend who had an Aspen Matthews poster by Michael Turner and that’s where I fell in love. I later went on to have Aspen drawn by Michael tattooed on my arm as my first big tattoo.
Today was my first ever comic con and I was expecting more because I have only ever seen pictures and movies of American ones, but alas, not a lot of people were dressed up. I didn’t have much time as I was also visiting London Fashion Weekend, so I spent an hour looking for anything from Aspen Comics and along the way discovered some great new artists and company’s like Zenescope who publish the Wonderland series drawn by a favourite deviantart artist of mine, Jamie Tyndall.

The five prints I bought. The bottom two signed by Elias Chatzoudis! Everyone was so friendly and eager to talk about their work, I love it when people love what they do!

“I Make Boys Cry” – I certainly do!

These beautiful figurines are from Diamond Comics.

J Scott Campbell is one of my favourite comic artists (he worked on Fathom) but unfortunately wasn’t at his table when I whizzed past.

Awesome sculptures by Spyda Creations.

This original Wonder Woman painting was on sale for £4000.

The above Superman painting for sale for £7000.

Oh look! It’s my apparent twin, Xena The Warrior Princess in comic form! *swoon*

Elias Chatzoudis signing the prints I bought, what a lovely guy and an incredible artist, he has a new fan in me!

Oh, they have a comic book about me?

There was a little gallery displaying original art work.

Sweet indeed!

Strength of the bear! Eyes of the hawk! Speed of the pumaaaa!

Adventure time trainers!

The artist drawing me a little doodle!

Wouldn’t look out of place in a fetish club

Finally found an Aspen Comics representation! And I met one of the artists, Giuseppe Cafaro. I wanted to buy all of their prints but I had just about run out of money unfortunately.

Really wanted that Geisha print.

The Sucker Punch print was awesome too!

Instead I picked up the super sexy Cat Woman print by Paolo Pantalena.

Matt Dixon! He laughed at me when I looked up from stuffing my wallet into my bag and realised in amazement that I was standing in front of one of my favourite artists surrounded by all of his work! Total fan girl moment and he was so lovely to me. I had like £15 left and I wanted to buy all of his prints and his Girls On Top book but I ended up taking his bad ass biker babe angel print which he kindly signed and I will have to shop online for the rest

It was so awesome watching the artists draw, I am so fascinated by people who can draw amazing stuff right out of their imagination! It makes me so jealous that I’m not talented in that way and so in awe of people who are. Above is Verity Glass.

How freakin’ cool is this comic!? I love the colour scheme and the representation of a strong black woman in comics!

I like how this artist looked like the art work

I’m glad I found some people dressed up really well, I personally love any excuse to dress up so it’s awesome to see other people make the effort.
I enjoyed the convention and meeting so many amazing artists and picking up some fantastic prints which will take pride of place in my home.
Have you ever been to a comic convention? Did you dress up? Do you have a favourite comic? Tell us!
