An Unexpected Interest in Christmas

November 4, 2013

When I popped into Wilkinson yesterday to pick up a couple things for the kitchen, I was caught by surprise when I noticed their Christmas decorations. I am not a fan of Christmas. In fact it is my least favourite time of the year and I would gladly swap Christmas for Halloween. I find Christmas tacky and completely devoid of humanity, turning people into mindless sheeple who blindly follow this corporate marketing idea of how they should live life and buy into it hook line and sinker.

However, I have an eye for slick design so I was surprised to find myself lingering in Wilkinson’s Christmas decorations area. This year they have different themes, one of which is named the Midnight collection and that’s the one that caught my eye. The collection reminded me of the circus with it’s harlequin prints and peacock colours and I especially appreciated the black baubles. I have to say, their Forest Friends collection is totally adorable too.

Some of the pieces from the other collections also caught my eye and I’ve collected them all together below. If I were one to spend money on Christmas, I’d spend it at Wilkinson. In fact I think I will pick up some of the pieces simply because they can work all year round like the candle holders, plates and bows and I will definitely get the mini top hats to use as fascinators on my jaunts to fetish and cabaret night clubs. In fact quite a few of the pieces can be used in affordable costume making.

Unfortunately this is not a sponsored post although I really wish it had been, I probably would have bought that bitchin’ bright red velvet stag as a year round decoration in my bedroom with the money!
