Aspen Comics produce my favourite kind of comic, the artwork for each of their productions is exactly the kind of comic art that I love. One of their newest releases is called Lola XOXO and it’s about a young girl finding her way back to her lost family in post apocalyptic America.
In the “Wasteland”, Lola, a young woman with a resolve fortified by a lifetime of survival on her own, must journey across the nuclear-decimated United States in order to find the family that was taken from her! As her quest for the truth begins, Lola uncovers the true inhumanity of the Apocalypse, as those who seek to hold power in a new frontier, will do so at all bloody costs-including her life!
Inspired by Aspen Comic’s first cover picture, I decided to see how easy it would be to put together a Lola XOXO Cosplay. All of these items are on Amazon but can be sourced from anywhere of course. See my Polyvore for direct links to these items on Amazon.
When it comes to cosplay, I like to keep it as authentic as possible. Lola wears a zip up, sweet heart bodiced corset, no other corset will do. Even down to the long horn skull belt buckle, the best cosplay pays attention to details, textures and authenticity. Not just any blonde wig will do either, it needs to be a wavy or curly wig without a fringe (bangs).
Here are a couple other pictures of her in slightly different outfits and with some other accessories like a gas mask and night vision goggles. Horse, optional.
Lola XOXO is created and drawn by Siya Oum; Comic Artist, Colorist, Illustrator, Web Developer, Photographer. Siya is a woman, so obviously I’m even more excited about it!
I can totally see Scarlett Johansson playing her in a movie! Mind you, Scarlett is already playing an ass-kicking badass in a movie soon to be released called Lucy. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, then I suggest you get right to it!
Would you cosplay as Lola XOXO? Who would you love to cosplay as?
